Did You Know ?

Here are some random things that you may or may not know about Tyson.

1. It is very hard to get a serious picture with him there.
2. When he was 3 he fell into a fire pit at the Ward Father & Son's.
3. Tried to Rollerblade down the metal slide at the Park School.
4. Tried to cut the training wheels off his bike. ( they were for babies)
5. Taught his self to ride a bike by leaning the bike against the car and pushing him self off.
6. Rode a 4 wheeler for several miles, leaning down to shift with his hand, because he had broken his leg. Know one knew he was hurt until they all got the car.
7. Was due in March and was not born until May 9th.. ( see tomorrow's post)
8. His best friend while growing up was the next door neighbor girl. And they are still best friends today.
9. Went to High School in Cokeville WYO.
10. He was one of 16 class mates his age. There were 6 boys and 3 of them were named Tyson.
11. Was shot in the eye with a air soft gun at close range. LUCKY
12. Weighed 9lbs 5oz at birth
13. Was not embarrassed to have him Mom drop him off at the Jr. High AND give her a kiss goodbye.
14. While in High School his football team took State 3 years in a row.
15. Loves to read
16. Loves to tease
17. Loves to sneak up on you and scare the crap out of you.
18. He has worked for a brick mason, a framing contractor, at a gas station, a hotel, been a waiter & the Army.
19. Shortest job... 8 hours graveyard shift at Maceys
20. He has long toes. His second toe is longer than my little finger.
21. He can make a dog yapping sound and hit the car and it sounds just like he ran over a dog. (you have to be there)
22. Can text so fast.. He should enter a contest.
23. We did not know what we were going to name him. A couple of weeks before he was born a Tyson Chicken Chunk commercial came on.. I said that is it... Tyson.
24. He would yell & scream at the common wall in our apartment so that Norma Larsen would here him. She thought that Trent was beating him up. Tyson would get warm cookies the next day and she would not give any to Trent.
25. Not afraid to dress up.. RE: Halloween, to cheer on the girls basketball team etc.
26. He LOVES his nieces and nephews. And they love him.
27. Prior to the Army I am pretty sure that he used more product on his hair than most girls.
28. He was asked to join the cheer squad at Dixie College
29. Not afraid to fart in a group of people, strangers or not.
30. Has size 12 feet.
31. On the Garbe side of the family, there are 4 cousins his same age. 2 boys and 2 girls.
32. LITTLE DIPPER
33. He as his cousin Whitney when they about 4 dumped about 3 gallons of cooking oil on the kitchen floor while I was in the shower. When I came down stairs they were stripped down and sliding all over the place. It took days and days to get the oil cleaned up.
34. He eats fast and lots.
35. And last but not least he had the lead male role in the High School play.. Annie get your Gun.
He had to sing a solo. If I did not have it on tape, I would have never believed it.

I am pretty sure that I could come up with much more, but this will do for now.

Tyson

Tyson has always been my child who at the drop of the hat he would decide that he was going to do something. A couple of years ago he came home and said that he was going to go to hair school. We thought what the heck. There was no talking him out of it. He had decided that he was going to do it. He had checked out the school's and knew that he was going to go to Renaissance in Provo and when he was going to start. We thought that he was crazy. After he started of course everyone loved him and he was doing well. But then everywhere he goes and everything he does everyone seems to love him. Well the first time I went over there to have him do my hair I told him that I wanted it all cut off. I mean I wanted it short. I think the only reason he was nervous is because I was his mother. But he did an awesome job. When leaving there I thought, well maybe he has found his niche. And he was going to go somewhere and make the big bucks. Now I am pretty sure that he will not be doing hair for a living. We have now realized the reason that he went to that school, at that time. He meet his wife... You know when he tells me that there is a reason for what he is doing, I really need to start listening to him.
We are so happy to have Lauren as part of our family. Here are a couple of pictures of them back in November 2007.

My Soldier

Tyson leaves for Afghanistan on the 19th for 12 months. I decided that I am going to blog about him for the next five days before he leaves. I hope that he don't get mad at me but I am probably going to tell things about him that he might not want me to. Oh well, I know that he loves me and it will be OK. Tonight I just want to let him know how proud I am of him. Even though I wish he was right here is good old Spanish Fork with me. He does fill very strong about what he is doing and knows that he is where he is suppose to be. I am glad that he got his job in headquarters as he will have access to his laptop and his phone while he is away.
These two pictures are of him while he was in boot camp in KY. This first one was is July when Lauren was able to go out and spend the weekend with him.

This one is when Robert, Lauren and I went out in September for his graduation on September 11th. He received some awesome awards and we knew after leaving KY that we was going to do great things with and for the Army.

Tyson and Lauren are expecting their first baby in July. So hopefully he will be able to come home (San Diego) for a couple of weeks in July.

I am not the best blogger but stay tuned for the goods on Tyson for the next couple of days.

We are back to warm weather ?

Robert and I left last Thursday to go and see Tyson and Lauren in Alaska before he is deployed on the 19th of this month. First of all can I just say that I HATE to fly. I think all of the worst things when flying, I am always sure that I am not going to make it where I am going. And then to top it off I hate the rude people who always seem to be taking the same flight as us. Anyway despite all of that it was a great trip, we had a great time. It was great to be able to spend time with Tyson and Lauren and to be able to see beautiful Alaska. It was a bit cold for me but still beautiful. On Friday night we went to a hockey game with some of their friends from their ward. We went to their apartment to meet up with them. They then told us that we were going to walk it was not far. Well after the first couple of blocks I thought that my lungs were going to burst. But I just kept my head down so that the cold was not hitting me right in the face. We finally got there and the game was great. Then it was over and I knew that I now had to go back out there to back to the car. I told them on the way home that I have YW leaders and YW that drive across the street to the church. If it is snowing they call to see if we are going to cancel. I thought about them the whole time walking and was thinking what great big babies they are.


I have so many great picture so you will have to just suffer through. We were driving along the inlet towards Girdwood, this ice was along the side of the road.

We would be driving along this inlet and it would look like small pieces of ice, then it would look like rocks. Then you would see a little water. It was awesome. The best part was when we were driving it look frozen solid and standing still. We pulled over to get a picture and we could not believe how fast it WAS moving.



I just thought that this was a great picture of the sun really trying to peak out of the clouds. In Girdwood they have a ski resort. This was a fun little town with some beautiful mountains. These next two picture's I took from the car as we were leaving Girdwood, again the sun just trying to peek out.On Sunday we took a great ride out to Seward. This drive was through the mountains all the way. We really thought that we would see some great wildlife, but no such luckOK here is a little wild life. Of course I can not ever get a picture of Tyson being serious. In Seward there was an Aquarium that we went through. There was a kids corner and you guessed it look who had to try out the boat. While we were there it was feeding time. This picture was in the parking lot as we were leaving. The ocean was just so blue I had to get back out of the car and take this picture. You can not really tell but the wind was blowing like 90 miles per hour. I was shaking so bad I am surprised that the picture was not blurry.
As we were driving back through the canyon we came around this corner and both Robert and I could not believe the great sunset. These next 2 pictures are also out of the car as we are driving. By this time it was to cold to actually stop and take a picture.

We were a little disappointed that we did not see any wild life. We thought we are in Alaska, what the heck. We pulled into town and had to stop at their apartment to get them some more clothes to take to the motel room when what do we see in the parking lot ?????WILDLIFE.... 2 moose

On our last day there we drove out to the temple. It is a small temple but it was so beautiful covered in snow nestled in a corner.

We are so thankful that we were able to take this trip. Tyson and Lauren we love you so much, we are proud of you and what you are doing. I am thankful everyday Tyson for brave men like you who are able and willing to protect our freedoms.

Boring Update RE: no pictures

Because I did not get a Christmas card sent out I thought that I would send out a New Year's update.
First of all... We are leaving on January 29th for the balmy weather in Alaska. Yeah right, I am going to have to get a coat, since I do not own one right now. I am pretty sure we will be packing the long underware. But we thought that we needed to go and visit Tyson and Lauren before he leaves in February. I am so excited to go and see them. I WILL suffer through the freezing cold weather. I will be taking a ton of pictures so watch for those. I wish that the tickets were not so stinkin expensive so that we could take the rest of the family. But I would have to put a 2nd on the house. LOL.
We are so excited for February to roll around as Trent and Emily are going to be having our 4th grand baby. She is going to be Alexis Camryn ... Lexie. Now Trent is still holding out that she comes out a Henry or Joe. But even when she is Lexie he will be a great Dad and just happy that she is healthy and here.
Tyson and Lauren will be having baby # 5 in July. As of now we do not know if it is a he or a she. So we will be going to San Diego in July.. Now that is my kind of weather.
We are keeping pretty busy with just everyday life. Between Robert's calling in the Bishopric and my calling in YW, Trent's basketball on Monday's and Fireman's on Thursday , and Brandon's ballgames a couple times a week,(He is going to be an NBA star and we always want him to remember who his favorite aunt and uncle are) we do try and get a "date" of some kind in on Friday night or Saturday. But I would not have it any other way.
We are happy and trying to do the things that we should be doing and just keeping busy to keep us young. I am not sure how this is happening, but everyone is getting older but us. Help me out. The other day at work we were talking about the ages of our kids.. When I said that Trent was born in 1979 my boss said , how old are you ? I laughed out loud and reminded him that I was his same age. He was pretty sure he was not as old as me.
Anyway I hope that everyone's 2009 will be wonderful. I do have some new years resolutions, maybe my next post I will go into more detail on them.

Late Christmas and shooting guns

Tiffany had her kids for Christmas this year so Trent, Emily & Erika slept over at our house on Christmas Eve. We had so much fun Christmas morning. It was so fun to have little kids for Christmas again. They just make it so much fun. All 3 of them did have to get woke up. Emily was having a hard time sleeping. LOL
Erika got a kitchen & all the accessories that go with it that all of the kids loved playing with. We had BBQ banana's, tea, boiled onions. And we were charged for our wonderful eats. She is kind of getting in to barbies also. so she got a couple of those so that she and Harley can play and have a great time.
Harley got everything High School Musical. Sleeping bag, barbies, back pack, clothes. etc. she was in Heaven. It was so fun to hear her say.... this is just exactly what I wanted. Every time she opened a present.
And then there is Oakley. As much as Harley loves HSM he loves CARS. He did not even want to open the next present, he just wanted to play with the one that he had just opened. If we did not keep him going it would have taken him all day to open his presents.
Trent and Emily spoiled each other. Just a couple of things... Trent got a tool box for his truck, clothes and more clothes... Emily got a great "hers" tool box I am sure so that she would leave Trent's tools alone. she also got an IPOD. They got more but those were their biggies.

On Saturday we went up Spanish Fork Canyon to shoot the guns. Here are alot of pictures... This first one is Trent putting up some targets for us ... I wanted you to see how deep the snow was.. it is up past his knees. There was so much we had to just pull over on the side of the road. To much to really pull off on a side road.

Robert got a new pistol for his birthday so they were excited to shoot it. I thought that it was much harder to shoot than a rifle.. just because it is harder to hold still.

These next two are of Trent with both guns. He is a great shot.. we won't go into everything that was shot at.

I have been the best female shooter in our family, but along came Emily. she was awesome with Trent's rifle.

At first Erika told her dad that she did not want to shoot because it would scare her. But she did finally ask him to let her shoot. Here she is with Papa shooting the pistol.

And here she is with her Dad.. Look at her eyes... she could see everyone doing that and looking through the scope. It was so funny watching her getting ready to shoot.

OK, that was really fun, can we do it again Dad? Watch out Emily, if she keeps going and I am sure with her Dad and Papa she will... she will be kicking both of our butts.

Just before we were getting ready to leave I thought that I would quickly show you the beautiful Mountains that were surrounding us. This first picture was East of us and just across the road, so I had my regular lens on my camera.

Now this was was to the left of us... Robert said that the peak just to the side of the pine trees is the back of Maple Mountain. I did put my middle lens on to get up to this one. Could not really tell you how far away it was but what I should have done is take one with the regular lens and then this one. Oh well I don't think of those things until after I get home. next time.

This last one is heading south. This one just to get to the highway is several miles. So this is just to show you how awesome my new lens is.

Anyway I hope that everyone had a great Christmas. I hope that your New Year is wonderful. Robert and I have several resolutions that we are going to keep , if not surpass them. Hopefully my next post will let you know what some of them are.

Go Provo, go spanish fork

This Friday Provo plays Spanish Fork in Basketball. My awesome nephew plays for Provo. He is a senior this year and has signed with BYU for next year. Anyway my YW did not think that it was very nice of me to remind them to go to the game this Friday and look for my very good looking nephew. They asked me who I was going to cheer for.. I told them.. go spanish fork and
GO PROVO. Again they were not very happy with me. But they know I still love them.

I have not been able to get very many good pictures of Brandon this year. I swear he knows that I am taking his picture and turns just in time for me to miss the really great picture.

A couple of weeks ago I went and had T-shirts made for the Davies faithful. Kids and all. I am telling you that we have a great cheering section. I am pretty sure there are people who want to have as much fun as we do.

Last Saturday we took our Young Women to Salt Lake for a Super Saturday. We left Spanish Fork at 12:30 and went to the Festival of Tress. After we were done there we went into Salt Lake and went to the Joseph Smith building and watched the move... Joseph Smith. I have seen it a couple of times but I am telling you it is very powerful. If you have not had the chance to see it, make time and do it. After the movie was over we ate at the cafe in the Joseph Smith building. This was a first for me and it was wonderful. They have the best sandwiches and soup. I highly recommend it. After we were done eating we walked over to Temple Square to see the lights. There were so many people you could hardly move. Anyway it was beautiful . The girls had a great time. We then headed for home and got back into Spanish Fork at about 8:30. It was a long day but a great day. These are the times that you really get to know the young women and who they really are. I love them and I love my calling.

The young women are as bad as my family, I get my camera out and they think that the first thing that they are suppose to do is pull a face. They are wild and crazy. I guess that is why I love them.

They have this wonderful Nativity on the pond. This picture is not the best but it really was beautiful. I don't know why but I also thought that the Angel Moroni was awesome. Again not the best picture but still beautiful. Even though we can be crazy, the girls still have such great testimonies. I learn from them every week.
